DESCRIPTION:Join this empowering presentation where you will learn from two of our high-achieving executives how to remove the barriers that could prevent women from rising to leadership positions.  You will also pave the way for other women to do the same. \n\n\n\nABOUT THE SPEAKERS:\n\n\n\nJulie Blazek is a Partner at HKP whose strategic and holistic approach to the design and construction process leads to context-driven\, function-focused\, uplifting architecture. Her design work has received numerous awards from the AIA Northwest Washington and\, for the Twin Lakes Landing affordable housing project\, national recognition from the National Association of Home Builders. \n\n\n\nJulie received her architectural degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a Certificate in Design Firm Leadership and Management from the University of Washington. As a LEED Accredited Professional and a Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC)\, she is determined to bring Passive House high-performance building technology and design to the mainstream.\n\n\n\nLeslie Smith: Leslie has 20+ years of experience in metals manufacturing and 25+ years in management and training of individuals and core teams. Leslie is a hands-on owner and General Manager of EDCO and holds the position of Management Representative in the Quality Management System. She earned her master?s degree in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin in 1986 and her PMP\, Project Management Professional Certification\, in 2006.  She has worked closely with local community colleges and Manufacturing Centers of Excellence in the region to help develop a strong human resource base for the future.  Leslie instituted the AISC quality system at EDCO in 2009.\n\n\n\nABOUT SPEAKING OF WOMEN\n\n  \n\nSpeaking of Women"  is a Mount Vernon Chamber program designed for business women to connect with one another\, empower each other and mentor upcoming business leaders. \n\nRegistration to the Speaking of Women Series includes monthly coffee chats between February and November and three empowerment panels:\n\n\n\nMarch 13 : Breaking the Glass Ceiling\n\nJune 12 : The Why Behind the What\n\nSeptember 11 : Climbing the Success Ladder\n\n\n\nEvents are held at various locations in Skagit County from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM
