Shaping the Future of Business - A "Speaking of Women" Event

Speaking of Women welcomes Katie Hayton, a Skagit Valley entrepreneur, hospitality leader and community advocate whose career has been built on taking chances, learning from setbacks and moving forward without apology.

Katie’s path has taken her from marketing assistant to sales leadership in the hospitality industry and ultimately to ownership of The La Conner Inn with her family. She has also owned other local businesses, including the Ice Cream Tower, and continues to invest her time and energy in the success of the Skagit Valley business community. Today, she serves on the Skagit Valley Chamber Board of Directors and the Skagit Tourism Bureau Board, bringing both a business owner’s perspective and a strong commitment to the region.

At this Speaking of Women event, Katie will share the lessons behind her success—the struggles as well as the wins, the importance of trusting yourself, and why women in leadership sometimes need to stop apologizing for being ambitious, decisive and willing to take risks.
